Responsibility and Accountability-Health Protection Programmes*
BP Chemicals Ltd
Occupational health practice in the UK Chemical Industry has changed during the last decade with more clearly denned responsibilities, greatly increased resources and a more critical assessment by the public and their representatives of the industry's responses to hazards. Accountability to interest groups and responsibility for health protection activities are reviewed and a framework of practice which meets the requirements defined for accountability and responsibility is discussed.
