The British Coal Medical Service in the Selby Coalfield
British Coal Medical Service North Yorkshire
The British Coal Selby project involved the development of six mine sites with interconnected underground workings. This paper describes the development of medical services and the extension of the Board's occupational health service into the new coalfield. Although the project has unique features it is to be hoped that this paper will be of interest to occupational physicians, particularly with those involved in the creation of new facilities.
