Hairdressers and Hepatitis BA Risk of Inapparent Parenteral Infection
Employment Medical Advisory Service Glasgow
Statistics from the Communicable Diseases (Scotland) Unit of hepatitis in occupational groups for the period 19811984 were reviewed. An incidence rate for the disease among hairdressers was estimated following enquiries about the population of working hairdressers in Scotland. The calculated rate of 41 per 100 000 for hairdressers suggests that they are in a high-risk group but whether this is related to work activities or other characteristics of the population is uncertain.
